Eldamain Rd Extension over Fox River
The Kendall County Highway Department (KCHD) set out to extend Eldamain Road (CH 7) south from River Road to High Point Road, just past IL 71. A key part of this project was building a brand-new crossing over the Fox River. The goal was clear: to create a smoother, more efficient route that would ease the heavy traffic. The new corridor was designed to help change that, offering a long-term solution that improved travel and supported the community.
The project brought a lot of upgrades to the area, starting with a brand-new bridge over the Fox River and an improved railroad crossing at the Illinois Railway (with the crossing surface and signal work handled separately). A roundabout was added at the new Eldamain Road and Fox Road (West) intersection, and new traffic signals went up at the intersections with River Road and IL 71. Along the way, there were also improvements made to nearby roads—including River Road, Fox Road, Fox Court, Budd Road, IL 71, and West Highpoint Road. To manage drainage, the project used a mix of new ditches, storm sewers, and culverts. And to top it all off, landscaping and new lighting were added to help tie everything together and improve the overall look and feel of the area.
